Zoe Mourlas

I really enjoyed my time at Rise Up! It was the first morning in days that it wasn't raining, so it was very nice to get out into the sun. I participated in weeding multiple gardens which gave me a chance to really appreciate the work that goes into maintaining them. I also found a toad under the dirt! The people there are very friendly and knowledgeable in gardening and taught us how to carryout our tasks efficiently. I am very big on sustainability, so being able to contribute to an organization that grows local food and promotes environmentalism was perfect for me. I learned that lots of Rise Up's produce goes directly to people who need it. While I was there, there was a long line of cars who collected food from the food pantry at the church, this is where Rise Up gives a lot of their local veggies. Overall, I enjoyed giving back to mother Earth and this was a great way to start my morning!
