Sign up: Martha's Table Volunteer Calendar

Volunteering with McKenna’s Wagon was a truly gratifying experience. I had the opportunity to travel around Washington, D.C., stopping at designated locations to distribute meals to individuals and families in need. Seeing the gratitude and smiles of those we served made the experience unforgettable and deeply humbling. It reminded me of the importance of compassion, consistency, and community service in supporting others. I would gladly participate again, as this opportunity strengthened my sense of empathy and commitment to helping those facing food insecurity.

Volunteer Opportunities at DC Central Kitchen

Volunteering at DC Central Kitchen was a rewarding experience. I helped prepare meals by cutting sweet potatoes and learning the proper way to handle a kitchen knife, which gave me a new appreciation for the precision and teamwork involved in large scale food preparation. Beyond learning practical skills, I valued the opportunity to disconnect from technology and focus entirely on contributing to a shared goal of supporting food inclusion and efficiency for the local community. It reminded me how collective effort in simple tasks can create meaningful impact.
