In this mini session, I learned about making sure how to properly spend your own money when it comes to budgeting through a simulation. We also heard the experience of college stuents in Alt FInance, a program only offered at HBCU's.
In this Fireside Business Chat called, From Credit to Capital: The Business of Money, we learned how to build credit while being a college student and why it matters. The SECU MD Team came to teach us by giving us real life scenarios. I really enjoyed going to this event because it answered my questions on credit and wealth-building strategies.
This was the first jazz concert I have gone to at PGCC. It was very fun. The names Javier Nero gave to his songs on his new album have a special significance to him. For example, his song Ayla, is named after his first daughter and the song represents the emotions he felt that day.
This was the first PGCC baseball game I attended. I supported our boys on their win against CCBC Dundalk.
This event was called “Bag of Chips.” In this event, I learned about all the different business processes that go into making a bag of chips. There is marketing, accounting, business management, business administration, and economics involved. This showed me how many different parts of a business have to work together to create and sell a bag of chips. In each station, we learned what job go along with the majors involved in the event.
In this mini session, I learned the proper ways to communicate in different situations, such as emailing a professor about a grade and communicating with group members who are not doing their part. I also learned how to send a proper voice mail.
In this town hall meeting, I learned that there was a Financial Empowerment Center located in Chesapeake Hall. There are Credit-Builder loan programs and Essay Contests in the financial center. They also offer Tax Preperation services. The meeting also mentioned what plans the school has incase ICE enters Campus.
This was the final round of the PGCC-sponsored Pitch Competition. In the final rounds, the remaining 5 participants who qualified from the previous round told the judges about the business they wanted to start. One business that stood out to me was Kind Dine. This is an app that lets you donate meals to people in need. The couple who have already started this business said the Bible was their inspiration because they read the word Kind alot. They have already earned 3 thousand dollars in donations, which shows visible support. They were the winners of this pitch competition, and it does not surprise me because they have already had an impact on the community.
In this Town Hall Meeting, President Dr. Falecia Williams answered questions that people had regarding PGCC. One of the questions that stood out to me was that the Duke Student Center should have already been demolished by now, since a new center will be made. She also responded to a question regarding why is'nt there a cafeteria lounge at PGCC. The Duke Student Center had one of these, but since it is going to be demolished, it is unoccupied right now. Therfore a lounge will be available around 2029, when the new student center is completed.
