During Howard University Alternative Spring Break I traveled to Philadelphia, PA with my group. During my time there, I tutored high schoolers in chemistry, math, and a few other subjects. I also discussed their future careers and explained how the science subjects they are currently learning relate to future jobs in various fields like health and biology. I gave the students a breakdown of the many possible paths that can be taken in the biology field.

I volunteered with the Urban Demonstration Community Garden. I helped with transplanting lettuce, green onions, and chard as well as weeding the fig trees. I also helped with the creation of the weed barrier around the garden.
At the Capitol Area Food Bank I worked with Xandra on the urban demonstration garden. Outside, we painted and labeled plant beds for easy navigation of the garden. I also helped with cleanup of the greenhouse.
For Howard University Alternative Spring Break I traveled to Philadelphia, PA, for a week of serving the community. During this time, I assisted with an outdoor grocery food bank. We set up, handed out food, and tore down, working alongside the Sharing Excess organization.
