While volunteering at UAB Blazer Kitchen, I received a lot of experience and hands on learning. The thing that I liked most about this experience was the helpful and caring environment that everyone had while volunteering here. Not knowing the major need for food insecurity right here in the very city I live in was very interesting. As I volunteered here, a personal challenge that I had would be me not knowing more than one language to better communicate with the shoppers. My key take away was me sooner rather than later learning a new language other than English to better assist individuals.

Throughout my volunteer experiences, I have enjoyed each and every one of them that I have done. The best part about volunteering at UAB Blazer Kitchen, would be interacting with different individuals of all ethnicities. Within volunteering, I am able to see the different points of volunteering. I get the opportunity to shop/assist the customers, check them out as if it were a store, and stock the item being put on the shelf. Also, volunteering here provides me with the experience of working with different cultural personalities. I think that the most challenging thing that I experienced was when I stocked for inventory and the canned goods was a little heavy, but I definitely managed. My takeaway from volunteering here is that you meet so many people including the people that you volunteer with. While doing that you are able to interact with them and learn so much like campus, similarities in degrees, and our future goals/ plans.
