Today we hosted a social and celebrated spring with cake and punch. This was a great way to get to converse and engage with the residents at Brookstone.

I atteneded an Easter luncheon and Easter egg hunt. I went early to prep for the event, attended the event, and helped clean up after. It was great spending time with residents and visiting with their families.

Today we read a devotional and then had a discussion. After that we played volleyball with pool noodles. This activity was a big hit and we got a lot of residents to engage so it was a successful day.

Assisted in preparing and executing exercise for our workout class. I then lead bingo for the residents and passed out the monthly newsletter.

This week at the YRCC we began our time by cleaning up snacks and preparing for the next activity. Once everyone was quiet, half of the group went outside to play and the other half stayed inside. I played Candy Land with four other people while everyone else played basketball. After thirty minutes we cleaned up and prepared for reading time. During reading time this week, I talked to the staff and the other volunteers. After reading time, I went into the multi-purpose room to work on a craft with the kindergarteners and first-graders. We traced our hands, wrote words that described ourselves, and decorated them. I helped clean up by putting away supplies, throwing away trash, and sweeping the floor. When it was 5:30 I left!

This week at the YRCC we did several different things. We began by going outside and spending 30 minutes hanging out on the playground. When we returned inside the reading pals had set up a winter party for the kids. There were four stations: snowflake making, cookie decorating, letter writing, and a snowman craft. I spent this hour helping kids at the various stations. When it was time to pack up I helped clean up and swept the floor. For the last half hour, I was in the computer lab and sat and talked with the other volunteers and kids, until I left at 5:30/
