move for a cure class!
This week at the YRCC, when I arrived we went straight outside. Some kids played on the playground while others were playing soccer in the grass. After 30 minutes we all went inside for reading time. My partner and I read If You Ever See a Disco Fish and Brave. After putting everything away the group played Wiffle Ball. I sat with a couple of kids who didn't want to play. We spent our time coloring and talking about the week. When it hit 5:30, I cleaned up and left.
When I arrived everyone was finishing their snack. After everything was cleaned up we went outside and played on the playground. I played with a couple of kids in a leaf pile. We then went inside to begin reading time. My reading buddy and I read a couple of Dr. Seuss books. When the reading time was finished it was free time. I colored with Ivory for the last hour and then left at 5:30.
When I arrived everyone was already outside playing. I played tag a little bit and then walked around with some kids. After 30 minutes we went inside and had reading time. I was paired with a girl and we read Peppa Pig and two other books. We then colored face masks for the rest of my time there. I sat with Sylus while he made a minion mask. Then at 5:30 I cleaned up and left.
When I arrived today they finished up snack time and then we went outside for 30 minutes. We played tag and talked the majority of the time. Once we went inside we began reading time. We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar twice and talked about our days at school. After reading time was up we played four corners and the winners got Halloween candy. Once a couple of us got out of the game we colored pumpkins and did word searches for the rest of the time.
When I got to YRCC on Monday we went outside for playtime. I was up with the children on the play set for 30 minutes. We then went inside for reading time. I read The Very Hungry Caterpillar with Josh. We then broke up between ages. I was with the older group and we played pictionary for 45 minutes. Everyone in the room was extremely into the game and was getting very competitive. Once we finished with pictionary we played musical chairs. I got out about halfway through the game which I was expecting to get our first round. Then it was 5:30 and I left!
