I had a great time at the discussion panel. It was great to talk about upcoming and new ideas for PGCC in the future. Based on the mission and vision discussed during the session, major positive changes are coming to PGCC by 2030!

I attended the virtual “Dollars and Desserts” Scholarship Information Session. It was filled up with many useful and important information about scholarships that are offered at PGCC. We were informed of important deadlines and application requirements. I took with me many tips on how to submit a successful application.
I attended the “What’s My Degree?” Session during the early advising week. There were many helpful advisors and representatives explaining the differences between an Associate of Arts, Science, and Applied Science on break out rooms. I certainly left this session with a better understanding on my type of degree.
I attended “The Power of “I AM” Affirmations Workshop”. This was a great session in which I learned how to build affirmations in a positive, present tense, and personal way. All of the mentioned affirmations were very encouraging to me. During the session we shared our favorite affirmations on a menti and then we did a couple of activities such as writing down all of our negative thoughts that have been taking up space currently. Overall, it was a great motivational meeting that made me feel refreshed and comforted afterwards.
During the session I learned about imposter syndrome, which I had never heard about before. But after learning what it was, I realized that I’m being impacted by it without even knowing. I have many of the symptoms that were explained. Thanks to this session I learned that I’m not the only one and that there are different methods to cope with it.
This WOW workshop was about leadership. We covered topics of the power of influence, how to lead, and intentionally leaving a legacy. During the session I learned what are some characteristics, skills, abilities, or attributes that many admire from leaders. The presenters also showed us a video about the positive and negative influence we leave on people. I also learned that you don’t need to have a title or an authority position to lead someone. We also watched a video of Michelle Obama’s speech about leadership. Overall, this was a great workshop that taught me about the aspects of a leader and how to create my own personal vision statement and the positive impact I desire to have on others and my environment.
I assisted the “Transfer 101: Applied, What’s Next?” Workshop. During the meeting we received many important details and updates regarding the upcoming Spring 2024 graduation and transfer tips. This session was very resourceful and the hosts answered most of our questions regarding transferring or graduation. An important thing I took with me is that the commencement ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 18. Overall, the meeting was great. Also, I am a soon to be graduate this May, I’m so excited!
I attended this scholarship night virtually. The meeting started out with an icebreaker activity. Since I attended virtually, I answered the questions that were shown on the screen in the chat. During this meeting I got to know about the transfer advisor Tamika McKelvin. She shared many useful tips about the steps to a successful transfer. I also learned about the common app transfer tool which can help you with making research on multiple colleges and scholarships. Ms. Tamika also shared many things to consider such as the transcript request fees and cost of attendance. We were also informed about PGCC’s Top 5 institutions and their in state tuitions. At the end of the meeting we had an online game; “booklet”, a review about the whole session/meeting.
I attended the “UMD: Transfer Information Session”. During this meeting the host shared tips on transferring to UMD and scholarships. We also learned which majors fall into LEP programs and what are their repeat policy. All of our questions were answered and the host was very patient while answering. Overall, it was a great session filled up with many useful information.
I assisted the WOW workshop “The Love Lab”. This event was amazing because we discussed various topics about having a healthy relationship. I liked how we were discussing this on Valentine’s Day. We mentioned how one can show and demonstrate love to your partner such as expressing affection, respect, trust, commitment, and opening honestly. Furthermore, the hosts were very welcoming and made me feel heard and comfortable throughout the whole meeting.
