I really enjoyed the SHAPR experience. It was an interesting but awesome opportunity to get to be able to work with med-students. I felt that even with med-students being on a completely different path than I am, we still have so many things in common, such as morals and values.
I planned and wrote out the care plan that our group is talking about, and started to get an idea of the resources that we are going to share with our patient.
My group and I talked about the pateint meeting, and looked back over our notes. I wrote up the patient summary.
My partner and I met at the clinic. My partner had volunteered at the EAB before, and was very familiar with how things were run. She introduced me to her peers and explained the different functions and rooms of the clinic. Before we met with our patient, we went over the questions we needed to ask. I was nervous but my partner was very reassuring! We met with our patient and discussed the information we went over. After our patient left, we started talking about what resources would be most beneficial. Overall, it was a great expereince. I have never worked or volunteered in a medical setting before, so it was a very new but exciting experience!
I truly enjoyed this orientation and getting to know more about the SHARP program. It was great meeting the members of my group and developing a plan for the assignment.
