It was a good starting of the year with a good amount of information
For the refresh session, it was a review of some of the things that I know, along with some new things that I've learned. Some things that I knew were what does and doesn't count for hours, like classes, work, and something you're being paid to do doesn't count for those hours, but clubs, and attending pgcc events do count. Or because of the amount of classes I have before I graduate, I don't need to take extra classes to try and get the 30 credit requirement. Some new things that I learned were academic and program requirements were different, that this will be the last semester for volunteering, and impact hours are being called engagement hours, since it reflects engaging with the community. There's also some events that I would like to attend, like the mini sessions or some of the different clubs that are going on around the school.
As a Promise Scholar it is primordial to acknowledge the requirements to stay in good academic standing within the scholarship. It is always useful to refresh our mind about these important things. Also, attending to this event brought new things to learn. For example, the known “service hours” are now called “engagement hours”.
It was definitely a great webinar session to help inform us on what requirements we must fulfill academically and for the program. Once again I would like to thank Mr. Elio, Ms. Kimberly, and Ms. Chantia for doing this for us PGCC Promise students! I will definitely be going to those "mini" sessions!
