I met with Olha today. We talked about current events in the US and Ukraine, history of Ukraine and the US, and events in my life as a college student.
I worked with Tanya today. We talked about groundhog day and cultural equivalencies in Ukraine (also that Russians stole the Ukrainian groundhog). We also talked about how Americans can't name any countries and how some countries look a lot bigger on maps than they actually are.
I worked with Olha today. We discussed what higher education looks like in both of our respective countries. We also talked about music, a Capella, and weekend plans.
I talked with Tanya today. We how my semester is going so far and the extra-curricular activities I'm hoping to get involved with. We also talked about the snowstorm in DC, power outages (in both the US and Ukraine), and solar energy. Lastly, we played a game called WorldGuesser where we were placed somewhere on Google Maps and had to guess where we were.
I worked on mostly administrative tasks such as taking attendance and noting which students were partnered with which tutors. I also took pictures of students and tutors working together on school assignments and playing games together.
I talked with Olha today. We discussed the courses I'm taking this semester, current events in the US (stuff with Venezuela and Greenland) as well as how these events could impact Ukraine and other European countries.
I worked with Olha today. We discussed languages and her travel experience over the past few weeks. I also talking about current events in the US and we gave each other general updates on our lives.
I volunteered with the Center for Student belonging at AU to help direct and welcome attendees at the Mid-Atlantic
I worked with Tanya. We discussed her trip to Poland and some of the struggles she faced in a different country. We also discussed xenophobia, borders, languages, looked at maps, and compared the US and Europe.
I worked with Tanya today. It had been two weeks since we last talked, so we caught up on recent life updates. We also discussed mindsets relative to countries (mostly US, Ukraine, and Poland). We also talked about education (ie University vs college vs trade school) in our respective countries.
