I worked with Tanya. We discussed the past two weeks, cultural appropriation, history of the US and Ukraine, and plannned to meet again at the same time next week.
I worked with Olha. We discussed my wisdom teeth removal, the start of my school year, and what classes I am taking. Olha seemed interested in my anthropology class so we looked at the abstract of one of my readings and she found it really interesting so she is reading it for homework and we will discuss it next week.
I worked with Tetiana today. We had a thorough conversation about wisdom teeth and health care in the United States and Ukraine.
I worked with Tetiana today and we talked about my experience in California and moving back into American University. She also gave me updates on her life and stories about her family visiting.
I worked with Olha.today and we discussed the two week break (we both traveled a little) and Olha told me some updates about her work life and job goals.
I helped with freshman move-in on North campus. I used carts to transport boxes, suitcases, and other dorm necessities.
I worked with five students today: Brenda in 4th grade, Noah in 4th grade, Santiago in 6th grade, Arianna in 7th grade, and Sebrina in 8th grade. My students worked on math and reading at their respective levels and we worked through challenging exercises together.
I worked with Olha. We talked about shadow and finger puppets for a little as well as tattoos, piercings, and skin care. I don't even know how we got talking about these things, but it was enjoyable.
Today I worked with Olha. We discussed our dream jobs when we were children, what life looks like as a doctor and as a teacher. We talked about the cost of education, cost of living in our respective countries, and homelessness. We also talked linguistically about different accents, the use of English as a lingua franca, and lisps. It was a fun session.
