Scholarship Session #4 - Wednesday

Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm (ET)

I was able to learn more about imposter syndrome and code switching. A lot of people feel imposter syndrome because they don't feel as accomplished as others. One example would be a student feeling like they aren't good enough or they don't even deserve to be in school because they didn't do the best in high school while everyone else went to universities. But in reality, it takes a lot to learn and acknowledge that you deserve to be where you are and you got there because of your accomplishments. I also realized that it's not where you are right now it how you can use whatever is going on to use as a stepping stone of where you're going. Everyone has their own path and you can't compare yourself. And the path you take should be just for you, you shouldn't have to code switch to fit into someone else's idea of what you should be doing or acting to succeed. Those are some takeaways I got from this session.

It was a very informative session today about imposter syndrome. It talked about code switching and the feeling of being left out or wanting to fit in. This topic was definitely something that related to a lot of people today.

I attended the Scholarship Night and learned about Imposter Syndrome, code-switching, and the sense of belonging/trying to fit in. I learned to increase my sense of belonging by being patient, practicing acceptance, and putting in effort. I learned that code-switching isn't a bad thing; really, it is a normal thing and it's useful. imposter syndrome is common and can be lessened by gathering evidence of your accomplishments. This night was very insightful.
