Scholarship Session #4 - Wednesday

Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm (ET)
Jenelle Bredwood

Learning about code switching made me realize that I do that lot when meeting new people. I am personally introverted, so meeting new people is not something I like to do. But when I do, I would code switch so it I don't seem weird and fit in with the group. Though I am glad I have friends where I have a sense of belonging and don't need to do that.

Today's special scholarships session was very interesting, the topics they gave us were very interesting to me. Something that I was able to learn during this session was about code switching, a topic that I found very interesting, since it explains how one can change their language and dialect to indicate conformity with the predominant culture.

I learned about imposter syndrome on how to cope with it and I learned about the importance of code-switching. I engaged in a padlet activity and a Q&A session.
