I went to my biweekly meeting with Brooke. We discussed using GivePulse and logging hours. I checked in on how my time at Higher Achievement was going. I asked all the questions I needed to and am all set now!
We participated in Halloween activties and spent some time on homework help. It was a more relaxed day at the site, but we still ended with mentoring with a focus on learning how to use a map. I took the Metro there and back as well.
I spent three hours at Ida B. Wells Middle School with the Higher Achievement Program and one hour on transportation. I spent most of the time tutoring students with homework in the subjects of ELA, Math, and Science.
Had a really great time helping students learn about claim making in English lit writing. Helped encourage those who were having trouble and they ended up finishing their homework really strong!
I spent three hours at Ida B. Wells Middle School with the Higher Achievement Program and one hour on transportation. I gave homework help and assisted in community building activities and club activities.
Today was my first time going to site, and I really enjoyed meeting everyone. I got to take part in some fun activities with the kids, such as pictionary and making candy apples. I got to chat with some of the students and tell them about my major, alongside being present just in case an extra hand was needed.
Out of the time, I wanted to note that I did spend about 50 minutes in transit to and from site.
